AMHERST – Amherst police have appointed Greenfield resident Michael J. Barone as a patrol officer after an extensive selection process, according to a press release.
Barone, 25, is the son of Eileen M. Barone of Chicopee and a 2005 graduate of Holyoke Catholic High School. Barone graduated from Westfield State College -- now Westfield State University -- in 2009 with a bachelor’s degree of science in criminal justice.
He graduated in 2012 from the Plymouth Police Academy, in Plymouth and had been employed as a police officer for the Provincetown Police Department.
