Former Amherst Town Manager Laurence Shaffer fails to win Michigan post

The Essexville, Mich., City Council voted to hire Douglas Alexander, a former assistant to the city manager of Port Huron, Mich.

AMHERST – Laurence R. Shaffer, who retired as town manager in September, was not selected for the city manager’s position in Essexville, Mich.

Finalists were interviewed Saturday and the council voted that afternoon, according to the Bay City Times.

The council voted for Douglas Alexander, a former assistant to the city manager of Port Huron, Mich.
