Both candidates had full-time jobs and didn't feel they could leave them for a temporary position.
AMHERST – The two candidates who were to be interviewed Tuesay night for the Jones Library interim director’s job have withdrawn from consideration.
The board will instead talk about what to do when longtime Library Director Bonnie J. Isman leaves Dec. 10.
“Both had existing full-time jobs and didn’t feel they could leave” them for the temporary position, said board president Patricia G. Holland. Holland said both were very interested in the permanent position.
Trustees had been hoping the acting director would have been hired before Isman left and have a week of overlap. They had also been hoping the interim director would have been able to manage the system until the end of the fiscal year, June 30, 2011, or until a permanent director was hired.
