AMHERST - Former Town Manager Laurence R. Shaffer is a finalist for City Manager in the Michigan city of Birmingham.
Shaffer was recently a finalist for a job in Essexville, MI as well, a job he did not get.
Shaffer retired as manager here Sept. 30 after four years in the position because of personal changes in his life.
Interviews with the four finalists will take place in Birmingham on Dec. 10, 11 and 12, according to the city’s Website. Officials plan to make a contract offer Dec. 12.
Birmingham is a city of about 19,000 with a median family income of $80,555, according to the 2000 census.
