Ziomek becomes the assistant Jan. 1.
AMHERST – David Ziomek, the director of conservation and development, will have a new title after his name come Jan. 1 – assistant town manager.
The promotion is recognition of the work he’s already doing, said Town Manager John P. Musante in making the announcement Friday.
There has not been an assistant since Musante held that designation when his assistant manager and treasurer.
“His department has expanded. It’s a recognition that he’s been a key member (of his staff.)” Musante said, “I wanted to give him the assistant (title) as his official role.”
Musante said that Ziomek has been given a number of special projects including leading the Safe and Healthy Neighborhoods Working Group.
Ziomek has worked for the town since 2004, first as Conservation Director and for the past several years as Director of Conservation and Development. He will earn $97,904 in his new post, an increase form $89,126.
In a prepared statement, Ziomek said “I am honored to serve the citizens of Amherst in this new capacity. My commitment to our community has always been strong and I look forward to working together to make Amherst an even better place to live. I am sincerely grateful to John for this opportunity. ”
